Who is Ostara
Who is Ostara?
Ostara is the beautiful young goddess of Spring.
After Winter the earth is left cold and barren but with Ostara’s return the earth moves closer to the sun, the ground thaws and spring bulbs shoot from the soil, birds return, hibernation ends and the days lengthen again.
Her return brings with it life and fertility.
Myth and Legend tell us Ostara was once late returning to earth after Winter and as a result almost caused the death of a small bird – on finding the small bird she transformed him into a rabbit and granted the rabbit the ability to lay coloured eggs one day of the year – those rainbow-hued eggs have become a key aspect of the celebration of Ostara and have been adopted in the celebration of Easter.”
